Low Cost OC-48 Full Rate (2xGigE) Framer-Mapper with maximized client flexibility and performance (TXC-16743)
The EtherPHAST™-2GE Platinum is an Ethernet-over-Sonet/SDH (EoS) framer-mapper that delivers optimal price performance especially in mapping multiple GigE links into SONET/SDH as well as other client signals such as FE, DVB-ASI, ESCON and sub-rate Fibre Channel (up to 1Gbps). This device is used in EoS/SAN/Packet tributary cards in xWDM, MSAN, uMSPPs, MSPP, Ethernet Terminal Mux and Ethernet broadband backhaul platforms where low cost and performance for multi-service is critical. The EtherPHAST-2GE Pt may be used on line cards with SONET/SDH backplanes, or network trunk cards where a SONET/SDH-to-packet backplane interfaces are required.
The EtherPHAST™-2GE Pt client terminal interfaces can be configured as: 8B/10B SerDes for GigE; up to 2 GMII Interfaces for GigE; up to twelve SMII Interfaces for 100 Mbps (FE) and up to two TBI interfaces for 8B/10B encoded traffic for ESCON, DVB-ASI or sub-rate Fibre Channel. EtherPHAST-2GE Pt supports Framed GFP, Transparent GFP, Transparent HDLC, LAPS (X.85 & X.86),and PPP/BCP mappings. Its SONET/SDH NNI interface can operate as a quad or independent OC-12/STM-4 interface or as one OC-48. EtherPHAST-2GE Pt provides SONET/SDH, TOH/SOH, and high/low-order path termination and processing, non-blocking STS-1/VC-3 cross connect with payload alignment, VCAT, and LCAS. Four parallel add/drop telecom buses at OC-3/STM-1/OC-12/STM-4 or one aggregate OC-48 rate enable client port expansion, protection and rapid implementation of multi-service designs.
EtherPHAST-2GE Pt leverages an embedded risc processor and abstracting software APIs to provide a high degree of integration for a variety of functions like LCAS and Performance and Fault Monitoring, as well as potential custom firmware when necessary. EtherPHAST™-2GE delivers the low latency performance for SAN, Ethernet and packet applications. When combined with the TranSwitch Envoy®-XE Metro Ethernet Carrier Class switch, a complete Intelligent EoS Transport system exists for a variety of platforms deployed by Ethernet Service Providers.
As part of the robust EtherPHAST™ family, the EtherPHAST-2GE Pt represents the lowest cost entry point for carrier class 2.5Gbps rate (2 x GigE) transport over SONET/SDH. The EtherPHAST™ device family is an excellent fit for evolving next generation multi-service platform families that share the same PLMs, line cards and daughter cards for multiple systems. A choice of three EtherPHAST™ variants allows system designers to choose the most optimal configuration appropriate for board design. Designers can utilize the same pin outs, software driver and leverage the software investment when implementing a new board using another EtherPHAST™ device.
